direct, directly

這兩個(gè)副詞都有“直接地”之意。

direct : 指行路中不停步、不繞道、直奔目的地。

The mayor goes direct to the people to listen to their complaints.（市長(zhǎng)親自深入群眾傾聽(tīng)他們的怨言。）

directly : 指以一種直接的方式。表時(shí)間時(shí)，指立刻，不拖延之意。

I'll be there directly.（我馬上到那兒。）

dirty, foul, nasty

這些形容詞均有“臟的，污穢的”之意。

dirty : 普通用詞，泛指被玷污或弄臟。

They were telling dirty stories.（他們?cè)谥v下流故事。）

foul : 指由于腐爛、惡臭等造成的不干凈，令人惡心。

Take off those foul clothes and let me wash them.（脫下那些臟衣服讓我洗一洗。）

nasty : 主要指特別講究清潔的人感到討厭的東西。

They'd be laughing making nasty remarks, and make passes at her.（他們會(huì)笑著說(shuō)下流話(huà), 并對(duì)她非禮。）
