英語專四常見詞辨析19：“附加物”

addition, appendix, attachment, supplement, accessory
這些名詞均含“附加物、增加物”之意。
1. addition ：僅強調數(shù)量的增加。
?? ?eg: They've just had an addition to the family.（他們家里剛剛添了一口人。）
2. appendix ：指書末的附錄。
?? ?eg: This book has twoappendices.（這本書有兩個附錄。）
注意appendix的復數(shù)形式哦~
另：appendix還有一個意思是"闌尾"。比如說：I have recently had my appendix removed.（我最近切除了闌尾。）
3. attachment ：指用于擴大原物用途的附件。
?? ?eg: Thevacuum cleaner has four different attachments.（吸塵器有四個不同的附件。）
4. supplement ：主要指使書、報等更完善而額外增加的部分。
?? ?eg：Asupplement to this dictionary may be published next year.（該詞典的補編或許將于明年出版。）
5. accessory ：作“附件”解時，與attachment同義，可互換，但還指增加美觀的附屬品。
