accept, receive, admit, take

這些動詞均有“接受、接納”之意。

1）accept ：強調(diào)主動地或自愿地接受，或者說，經(jīng)過考慮后同意接受。

eg: 1.Please accept me as a friend.（請把我當作朋友。）

????? 2.The police accepted his story as true.（警察對他的話信以為真。）

????? 3.He accepted me as having seen the much of the world.（他承認我見識廣。）

2）receive ：表示被動接受

eg: 1.A baby can only receive? sense impressions, but it can't understand them.（嬰兒只能接受感官方面的印象，而不能理解。）

????? 2.She has received his present, but will not accept it.（她收到了他的禮物，但她是不會接受的。）

3）admit ：作“接受”講時，強調(diào)準許或批準。

eg: No one but ticket-holders was admitted.（只有持票者方可入內(nèi)。）

4）take: 與receive同意，是receive的日常用法，側重不帶主觀意愿地收下或接受。

eg: 1.John takes second place in the race.（約翰獲得賽跑亞軍。）
