The art class was over, but Vashti sat glued to her chair.

Vashti’s teacher leaned over blank paper.

“Ah! A polar bear in a snow storm,” she said.
驚嘆道：“哇，是一只冰天雪地里的白色北極熊”。

“Very funny!” said Vashti.?“I just can’t draw!”
“真可笑，” 沃詩(shī)提說(shuō)，“我根本就不會(huì)畫(huà)畫(huà)”。

Her teacher smiled. “Just make a mark and see it takes you.”
但老師微笑著說(shuō)：“你哪怕是做個(gè)記號(hào)也可以，看看會(huì)是什么樣子”。

Vashti grabbed a felt-tipped pen and gave the paper a good, strong jab. “There!”
沃詩(shī)提聽(tīng)了猛的抓起一個(gè)帶橡皮的鉛筆，用力的在紙上戳了一下，說(shuō)：“就這兒了”。

Her teacher picked up the paper and studied it carefully. “Hmmmm.”
老師拿起畫(huà)紙，細(xì)細(xì)的研究起來(lái)：“嗯——！”

She pushed the paper towards Vashti and quietly said, “Now sign it.”
然后，老師把畫(huà)紙放回到沃詩(shī)提面前，說(shuō)：“現(xiàn)在把你的名字簽上去吧”。

Vashti thought for a moment. “Well, maybe I can’t draw, but I CAN sign my name.”
沃詩(shī)提看著畫(huà)紙想了一會(huì)，自言自語(yǔ)道：“也許我不會(huì)畫(huà)畫(huà)，但簽名我還是會(huì)的?！?/div>

The next week, when Vashti walked into her art class, she was surprised to see what was hanging above her teacher’s desk.?
第二周，當(dāng)沃詩(shī)提再次走進(jìn)美術(shù)教室的時(shí)候，她驚奇的發(fā)現(xiàn)在老師的桌子上面掛著的一幅畫(huà)。

It was the little dot she had drawn- HER DOT!

All framed in swirly gold!
而且畫(huà)已經(jīng)用旋渦狀的金黃色相框裝了起來(lái)。

She opened her never-before used set of watercolours and set to work.

The blue mixed with the red.
突然，一個(gè)藍(lán)色的點(diǎn)和一個(gè)紅色的點(diǎn)交匯了

She discovered that she could make a PURPLE dot.
發(fā)現(xiàn)中間出現(xiàn)了一個(gè)紫色的點(diǎn)。

Vashti keptexperimenting.Lot of little dots in many colours.
沃詩(shī)提一直不停的嘗試下去，又畫(huà)出了許多不同顏色的點(diǎn)。

“If I can make little dots, I can make BIG dots, too.”
“如果我可以畫(huà)小點(diǎn)，我就可以畫(huà)大點(diǎn)?！?/div>

Vashti splashed her colours with a bigger brush on bigger paper to make bigger dots.
沃詩(shī)提說(shuō)完就拿起了一只大畫(huà)筆，在一張大紙上揮毫起來(lái)。

Vashti even made a dot by NOT painting a dot.
沃詩(shī)提甚至在沒(méi)有畫(huà)點(diǎn)的情況下，讓紙上出現(xiàn)了一個(gè)點(diǎn)。

At the school art show a few weeks later, Vashti’s many dots made quite a splash.

Vashti noticed a little boy gazing up at her.
沃詩(shī)提注意到有一個(gè)小男孩在認(rèn)真的看著她的畫(huà)。

“You’re a really great artist. I wish I could draw.” he said.
他對(duì)沃詩(shī)提說(shuō)：“你真是個(gè)大藝術(shù)家，要是我也可以畫(huà)畫(huà)該多好啊！”

“ I bet you can,” said Vashti.
“你當(dāng)然可以，我可以保證” 沃詩(shī)提說(shuō)。

“Me? No, not me. I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler.”
“我？不可能的，即使用尺子比著，我連一條直線(xiàn)也不會(huì)畫(huà)?！毙∧泻⒄f(shuō)。

Vashti smile. She handed the boy a blank sheet of paper.?“ Show me.”
沃詩(shī)提笑了，她遞給小男孩一張空白紙，說(shuō)：“你畫(huà)給我看好嗎？”

The boy’s pencil shook as he drew his line.
小男孩畫(huà)了起來(lái)，他在畫(huà)的時(shí)候筆在顫抖。
