It could be that just the light for the button was malfunctioning, but then he perked up his ears and listened; there was not any noise at all coming from cranking of the elevator shaft nor turning of the wheels. The machine seemed to be completely dormant. "Is the elevator down for maintenance?" Shawn wondered, "I don't recall receiving any notification about this..."
