"The alleged conduct is shameful and it is unacceptable." Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiaries have agreed to pay over $2.2 billion to settle allegations that it promoted powerful psychiatric drugs for unapproved uses in children, seniors and disabled patients. The company was also accused of paying kickbacks to physicians and pharmacies who prescribed the drugs. The agreement is the third-largest U.S. settlement involving a drug maker.

Relatives of the gunman charged in last week's Los Angeles airport shooting expressed sympathy to the family of the security officer who was killed. “We, like most Americans, are shocked and numbed by the tragic events of last Friday.” Reading a written statement, their attorney said the family also hoped for the recovery of the other victims.

Ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi is out of detention and in court. Monday’s hearing was twice interrupted by shouting and Morsi told the court he rejects the proceedings. The trial has been adjourned until January.

And two members of the Boston Red Sox have shaved their World Series beards for charity. Money raised from the "shave off" will benefit victims of the Boston marathon.
