World’s Best Father

Looking at these pictures, you might think that you are looking at the world’s worst father. But that’s far from the truth.

Dave Engledow is creating an unusual scrapbook for his daughter, Alice Bee. When the little girl grows up she’ll have a complete photographic record of herself in highly dangerous situations. But most likely, the images will bring up memories that are sweet, not scary because Alice stars in “World’s Best Father,” a photo series meant to arouse fun at the type of father Engledow does not want to be.

“The first photo that my wife and I did with Alice was just planned to be a single image. I wanted to make fun of myself as a new father,” Engledow said. The main prophe used in the photo was a mug that says “World’s Best Father.” “The character I show in this series is a parody?of the father I hope I never become,” Engledow added.

And while the situations may look very dangerous, the basic rule is always to make sure that Alice is never actually in any danger during photo shooting. Engledow and Alice normally pose separately, and he Photoshops the images together into a final product.

The man who lives in Maryland, U.S. said he was an amateur ?(although he has a degree in photojournalism) and explained that he handled those images digitally so they would look more cartoonish.

Engledow also said that he was trying to do something that would also keep his friends being interested in following Alice growing up.

“But really,” he added, “all along, this has been a project for Alice. I want to be able to have something that I can give to her that she’ll look back on and treasure.”
