calculate, count, compute, reckon

這些動(dòng)詞均含有“計(jì)算”之意。

calculate : 通常指要求細(xì)致精確和復(fù)雜的計(jì)算，以解決疑難問題，多用于自然科學(xué)、生產(chǎn)部門或要求專門計(jì)算的場(chǎng)合。

例如：I calculated that the trip would take two days.（我估計(jì)這段路程要走兩天時(shí)間。）

count : 指逐一計(jì)算而得出總數(shù)。

例如：Let's count the people who are present.（咱們把到的人數(shù)點(diǎn)一下。）

compute : 一般指已有數(shù)據(jù)的，較簡(jiǎn)單但數(shù)字長(zhǎng)的數(shù)學(xué)運(yùn)算。

例如：He computed that the project would take seven years to complete.（他估計(jì)這項(xiàng)計(jì)劃要花七年才能完成。）

reckon : 通常指較簡(jiǎn)單的數(shù)學(xué)計(jì)算，也可指心算。
