Prakash Gopalan, dean of student affairs said that now, a student does not even know who lives two doors away from him because he is so busy on the Internet. There has also been a decline in academic performance and participation in sporting, cultural and social activities has gone down, which is not healthy. In order to encourage students to come out their hostels and to communicate more with others, the school has barred Internet access between 11:00 p.m. and 12: 30 p.m. at its 13 hostels to encourage students to sleep early and to try and force them out of their "shells". But the move has not gone down well with students who say they hate their lives being regulated.
