Today I posted a picture of our 8-year-old grandson, Eli, running in a race on social website.

and I'd like to share the reason why.

Our son Todd died suddenly in a car accident at the age of 16.
我們的兒子Todd在一場(chǎng)車(chē)禍中意外身亡，年紀(jì)才16歲

Todd had been a cross country runner in high school with Andrew
那時(shí)Todd正在念高中，和Andrew都是跨國(guó)比賽的賽跑選手?

and they had become friends.

The day of Todd's calling hours Andrew came to show his respects.
Todd去世的那一天，Andrew也來(lái)悼念

My eyes filled with tears when I saw Andrew placed some of his cross country medals in the casket with Todd.
當(dāng)我看到Andrew把自己在跨國(guó)比賽中獲得的獎(jiǎng)牌放進(jìn)Todd的遺物匣時(shí)，淚水盈滿(mǎn)了我的眼睛。

I walked over

and asked Andrew why he was putting these medals in the casket .

Andrew explained to me that

he would be able to win more medals in the years to come

and he knew that Todd couldn't.

I will never forget this unselfish act of kindness.
我永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)忘記他這樣無(wú)私而善良的舉動(dòng)

I hope if Eli continues to run he will win some medals too.
我也希望，如果我的孫子Eli 也想?yún)⒓痈?jìng)速比賽，他也會(huì)贏得獎(jiǎng)牌

But most of all I hope Eli will have a kind unselfish heart like Andrew.
但最重要的是，我希望Eli擁有一顆像Andrew那樣善良而無(wú)私的心
